What kind of monster was pennywise
Leland gaunt and his titular antique shop, Needful Things. Without going into spoiler territory, everything in the gentleman's shop can be bought at a modest price, though not necessarily in terms of money. An interesting twist on the Faustian bargain, Mr. Gaunt offers more than the ways of the world in exchange for one's soul. Creepy kids never go out of style, and Stephen King's cast of unholy terrors in Children of the Corn definitely get some major props for their creep factor.
Isaac and Malachi alone are enough to send shivers down many adult spines. Although some might consider them campy by today's standards, there is a strange unsettling element seeing preteen kids with various sharp farm tools sacrificing adults to an evil corn demon. Church is practically the mascot for Pet Sematary , both the novel and the films. But why does the undead cat earn a spot on this list? Simply put, after his reanimation, Church is not the same cat anymore. Rather, he is something more feral and ancient than the cute and cuddly kitty seen at the beginning of the film.
As illustrated in both book and film, the dead return as something not of the mortal world. Grief will drive anyone to do unspeakable things, but as seen in most of Stephen King' s work, they come with consequences. In this case, the Creed family has a demonic, undead toddler on their hands.
Isaac and Malachi have got nothing on this little creep. Dead is better indeed. It might not be the most terrifying entity on the list, or even the most terrifying movie for that matter, but it's impossible to say the big-wheeled behemoth isn't memorable. What psychopathic toy company would own a delivery truck with the Green Goblin's face welded to the front?
It definitely captures the overall tone of the film in a nutshell. Now for something legitimately scary, here we have a once faithful and loving canine companion turned into a massive bloodthirsty monster in the form of Cujo. What makes the dog so incredibly unnerving is the fact that he didn't start out as a killer but was someone's beloved animal.
Cujo was cared for, trusted, and loved by his owners before turning into something out of a nightmare, giving the horror a personal edge. This allows them to form a psychic connection and "send power" to each other, even across distances. It can be taken by surprise and can be physically assaulted if the attacker demonstrates no fear of it.
Additionally, "belief" can affect It, such as the use of silver which is a fictional weakness of supernatural entities and an inhaler believed to contain battery acid. The novel states that It must obey the laws of its form. This means that It possesses the vulnerabilities of whatever form it take, such as a vampire's vulnerability to sunlight or winged leeches obeying physics of flight.
During times of hibernation or healing, It may be vulnerable to surprise attacks. However, other books in the Stephen King universe such as Dreamcatcher and Hearts in Atlantis imply that IT may still be alive at the end of the story. In the miniseries, the outfit is more colorful with orange pompoms, blue sleeves, and a yellow body. In the movie, Pennywise returns to having a silver suit, similar to Italian opera clowns, and orange hair.
His face has two red lines starting above his eyes, streaming down the cheeks, and ending at the corners of his mouth. His nose is not genuine but painted red. Most often, his eyes are orange, but IT can change them to appear more familiar.
They also are often looking in different directions. The form of a friendly and funny clown is the easiest to invoke a sense of safety and comfort without needing to know anything personal about the victim, thus why IT uses it so often.

It was a clown, like in the circus or on TV. In fact he looked like a cross between Bozo and Clarabell, who talked by honking his or was it her? It traced its way toward them, widening from an artery to a stream to a river of ominous color; and then, as a burning, falling object broke through the cloud cover, the wind came.
It was hot and searing, smoky and suffocating. The thing in the sky was gigantic, a flaming match-head that was nearly too bright to look at… A spaceship! Richie screamed, falling to his knees and covering his eyes. Yes, arriving here millions of years ago, It has always been a piece of Derry, essentially turning humans into Its own livestock. There was the Kitchner Ironworks that exploded in on Easter Sunday, killing people, 88 of whom were children.
Then there was the time in It woke up early because the residents of Derry revealed the bloodthirsty influence of their benefactor when they collectively murdered the Bradley Gang modeled after Bonnie and Clyde in the streets. Get the best of Den of Geek delivered right to your inbox! In the book, the earliest recorded murders occurred in when the original Derry township vanished. The little village of wooden houses stood utterly deserted.
Despite the lack of bodies, New Englanders and thus history assumed it was the work of an Indian massacre, but we of course know better. There were nine of them in all, all nine hacked to pieces. When Bill and Richie finally confront It in its final form in the book, they note It smells like the Barrens. That is to say, It smells like all of Derry, the adults there have just lived with it for so long they never noticed. It Chapter Two more explicitly suggests Pennywise was an actual clown who may have been possessed by It, just as Henry Bowers is in the movies.
This is implied when Beverly Marsh Jessica Chastain visits the apartment she grew up in with her abusive father. Bev then examines old photos that look far too ancient, even for an elderly woman in Muschietti appears to be implying Pennywise was a human familiar who It corrupted and then enjoyed so much It incorporated his shape into its file cabinet of monsters. Was Bob Gray a real person? Is he incarnated in that thing because Bob Gray played a clown?
