Who said kevin garnett is a punk
Y'all relax, OK? If Steph came to this team and made it better, I'm all for that. If anybody came to this team and made it better, I would be for that. Of course, Marbury did briefly join the Celtics for the remainder of the season, appearing in 23 regular-season games and 14 more in the playoffs.
A talented scorer to be sure, Wally Szczerbiak was never known for being a particularly outstanding defender during his time playing alongside Garnett with the Minnesota Timberwolves. It was KG's team, his voice, his show, his everything.
Anyone who differed was going to be an outcast. Known for his intensity even during practice sessions, Garnett was involved in altercations with plenty of his teammates over the years. One of the more famous altercations occurred in Minnesota with Rick Rickert, then a rookie trying to earn a place on the roster.
Maybe I hit a jumper on him but he sucker punched me. With Pierce on the floor with an apparent injury, Garnett stepped in front of Richardson and delivered an elbow that struck Richardson in the face. KG claimed the elbow was inadvertent and that he was merely trying to keep players from crowding around Pierce while he was still on the floor.
Richardson predictably drew a different conclusion about the incident and eventually went on to level the famous critique of both Pierce and Garnett in which he offered the following analysis:. Stuff is going to come to a screeching halt as soon as it happens anyway. And you know, you put some people in different environments -- they want to do the same thing. And those two pretty much know that. After the game, Villanueva took to Twitter to share a snippet of KG's on-court trash talk, saying,:.
Then-Celtics coach Doc Rivers said he heard the banter between KG and Villanueva, backing up Garnett's account before chiding Villanueva for disclosing on-court comments between players via Twitter. Kevin wasn't going to forgive him. The always colorful Charles Barkley openly criticized James, 25 at the time, for walking away from the Cavaliers when they were still one of the elite teams in the NBA. The expectation laid out by the generation of stars who came before LeBron was to give everything to the franchise that drafted you, and you live with the results, for better or worse.
Hall of Famers like John Stockton and Reggie Miller rolled the dice of spending two decades in one city, only to never have that loyalty rewarded with a championship. Other Hall of Famers like Karl Malone have ring chased the honorable way — as a washed old man — only to come up short. He faithfully rode with a Minnesota front office that did little to put together a team worthy of taking the floor with the future Hall of Famer.
As people heaped praise upon Tim Duncan for staying in San Antonio, a pristine organization by comparison and therefore not a difficult decision , Garnett — his basketball equal — toiled away in the Twin Cities. He was great. Ranks really high. KG had to be convinced this move was the best move for him and his chances a winning a ring.
Barkley is often erroneously viewed as a hypocrite on the ring chasing subject. Yes he forced at least one trade in his career. Geaux Rockets Member. Joined: Oct 10, Messages: Likes Received: Joined: Jun 26, Messages: 10, Likes Received: 2, Maybe its him.
Actually, upon further review, Im not sure the same "Player X" wrote all of these columns. It looks like ESPN may have gotten a different player to write these each of the last two seasons.
And this appears to be the only one that states the number of columns that person has written for ESPN. So figuring this out may be impossible. Space City Member.
